Imagine being able to charge your EV battery from 10% to 70% in just five minutes! That's the reality BYD is bringing to the table with this new-generation battery. And get this - it can achieve a 97% charge in a mere nine minutes, a world record for mass-produced batteries. Even in extreme cold, the battery performs impressively, taking only 12 minutes to charge from 20% to 97% at temperatures as low as -30°C (-22°F).
BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu believes this is the solution to the industry's 'range anxiety' problem. He argues that the current approach of larger batteries and more charging stations is inefficient and fails to address the root cause. His vision is to make EV charging as fast and seamless as refuelling a gas car, and with the Blade Battery 2.0, he's well on his way to achieving that goal.
BYD plans to roll out an extensive network of 'flash charging' stations across China, with a target of 20,000 stations by the end of 2023. These stations will be equipped with cutting-edge technology, capable of peak outputs of 1,500kW. In comparison, Tesla's advanced V4 superchargers, with peak rates of 500kW, are currently limited to just 40 stations across the entire country.
