An alarming situation has unfolded at the A34 junction near Didcot, where incorrect road markings have sparked concerns among locals and authorities alike.
The junction underwent resurfacing and maintenance over the weekend, leading to its temporary closure. Upon reopening on Monday morning, the issue of incorrect road markings came to light.
Local representative, Snowdon, shared his concerns, stating, "I've received numerous reports of near misses, where drivers attempting to merge onto the A34 southbound lane, as indicated by the markings, suddenly realize the lane is actually to their right and make a last-minute swerve."
This confusion, Snowdon explains, is a result of the intersection's unique layout, where locals are accustomed to a specific lane configuration, and the new markings have caused confusion among both locals and unfamiliar drivers.
"You have a mix of people who are unfamiliar with the area and locals who know their lanes by heart, and don't always pay attention to road signs. It's a dangerous combination," Snowdon added.
