Despite not having reconned the Blockhaus climb specifically, Visma has prepared extensively, utilizing virtual tools and past race data from 2017 and 2022. Reef believes they are well-equipped to tackle the challenge, especially with only one other mountain stage in the second week.
"The third week is traditionally decisive, but Vingegaard is not one to wait. When he's in top form, he attacks. His calmness leading up to stage 7 is a warning sign for his rivals."
Reef expects a competitive finish on Blockhaus, with riders adopting defensive or aggressive strategies. The steep climb has the potential to create significant gaps, as seen in 2017 when Nairo Quintana claimed victory. With Eulálio's impressive form, Reef suspects he will hold onto the pink jersey until stage 8, but the true test will be on the mountain.
"It's an important day tomorrow. The second week has only one tough mountain stage, so this is a crucial opportunity for Vingegaard to assert his dominance."
